OUR PURPOSE
Why this work Matters.
Too many nurses navigate personal struggles and licensure or discipline issues in total isolation.
They rely on informal advice.
They respond emotionally instead of strategically.
They wait until a situation escalates before seeking structured guidance.
Licensing boards operate on documentation, compliance, and timelines — not intent.
Nurse Recovery Institute™ was created to bridge the gap between clinical recovery support and professional license protection.
PLEASE NOTE:
- This is not personal therapy or counseling.
- This is not substance abuse treatment or medical care.
- This is not legal representation and we do not provide legal advice.
This is structured, strategic professional guidance and navigation by someone who has been in your shoes before.
Meet our Founder
Dr. Erica Bolar, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, CARN-AP is a board-certified family and addiction medicine nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience in advanced practice nursing, education and clinical leadership.
Licensed in multiple states, she has built a successful sustained, multi-state clinical career supporting individuals navigating complex behavioral health and professional challenges.
At a pivotal point in her own personal and professional journey, Dr. Bolar was struggling in silence did not know who to turn to for help to help preserve her recovery and her career. Living in a state with no Alternative to Discipline Program for Nurses, she had to navigate treatment and the complex reporting and licensure processes without any structured guidance. Each state she was licensed in had a different process, different rules and regulations. The experience was isolating, high-stakes, and often confusing — marked by some costly missteps and preventable challenges she later realized could have been avoided with informed, strategic support.
At this turning point, Dr. Bolar wished she had access to someone who understood both regulatory systems and the internal pressure of professional scrutiny — someone who could provide structured objective, non-judgmental, non-stigmatizing guidance with built in support and accountability at every step.
That experience became the foundation for Nurse Recovery Institute™.
Today, Dr. Bolar provides License to HealTMÂ Coaching services maintains multiple active nursing licenses and a successful clinical career, advocating for better support for licensed nursing professionals and helping them stabilize, protect, and strengthen their recovery and professional standing.
Dr. Erica Answers:
Why Does This Work Matter So Much to Me?
" Nurses dedicate their lives to caring for others. Yet many struggle privately — afraid to ask for help, unsure who is safe to confide in, and concerned about the professional consequences of being honest about their vulnerabilities.
I have lived through this personally and I am a committed advocate for nurses who feel isolated, silenced, or uncertain about where to turn.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an educator, bringing academic rigor and professional accountability into every aspect of my guidance.
I understand both the regulatory realities and the emotional weight that accompany licensure scrutiny or private professional instability.
I believe that clarity reduces fear.
I believe that structure reduces risk. I also believe that nurses (consistently voted the most trusted profession in our country decade over decade) deserve informed, strategic guidance that protects both their mental health, license and their dignity.
My License to Heal™ coaching program was designed to reassure nurses that it's ok to NOT be okay. We are human. We may hold professional licenses to heal others but at times, WE struggle and need help and healing too. It's not always safe to ask for help when you're always the "Healer" and always taking care of others. Please know that YOU ARE WORTHY and deserving of non-stigmatized, structured help and guidance. That is my Purpose."
Nurse Recovery Institute is an Educational platform for hosting coaching, courses, and community (coming soon) so nurses do not have to navigate high-stakes professional vulnerability alone.

Dignity Must Be Preserved
Professional or personal vulnerability should never be met with shame. Nurses deserve non-judgmental, discreet guidance during high-stakes transitions.
Stability Creates Freedom
When nurses understand their position and have a structured plan, anxiety decreases and confidence returns. Clarity allows forward movement.
